Chuck is a popular drama about the story of a young nerd who acquires the secrets of his country and becomes a spy. The main character is played by actor Zachary Levi, a self-professed nerd, who, on his first visit to Japan, headed straight for Akihabara.
‘There are many similarities between Chuck and myself”, says Zac. “We are both nerds, we both love comics, technology and video games. Although I don’t get the chance to be in car chases, gun fights, or to kiss really beautiful women!”
“Chuck has enabled me to do all those things you can’t really do unless you’re James Bond. Chuck does all these wild things like car racing, sky diving, bungee jumping etc. He’s an adrenaline junkie! (laughs).
Driving around in a Harley, while going crazy over the latest edition of a comic book…that’s my style. Maybe that’s why we’re so compatible…because we’re both adrenaline junkie nerds…”
“I want to break down the stereotype of people thinking that nerds are just anti-social people with thick glasses.?It’s all about educating people, and that’s what prompted me to start my own company called The Nerd Machine (a brand for nerds). It’s what keeps me energetic outside of acting. I started to think that for sporty people, they have brands like Nike and Adidas, but there isn’t really anything for nerds. So I thought it would be cool to offer them something, like fashion items and gadgets.”
“My main love is still acting of course, but from now on, I want to challenge myself. I am also interested in directing, and would eventually love to be able to produce something as epic as Prometheus or Lord of the Rings. Anyhow, I’m an adrenaline junkie!” (laughs).
