“Ask Ausiello” Spoilers {5/10/2011}

Posted by Hayley in May 10,2011 with 1 Comment

Question: Deets on the Chuck finale, please! —Megan
Ausiello: Images of Yvonne Strahovski in a wedding dress have leaked. The show recently shot scenes on location at a Los Angeles-area church. The entire season has been building towards a Chuck-Sarah wedding. Yet in spite of all of this, exec producer Chris Fedak says fans shouldn’t assume those two crazy kids will end up getting hitched in Monday’s finale. “Just because we may’ve shot something at a church doesn’t mean [there’s a wedding],” he teases. “Once you see how our season finale works there should be a degree of doubt. It’s structured in such a way that we don’t know if Chuck and Sarah are going to get together in the end.”

Question: Worst-case scenario — Chuck doesn’t get renewed. Will producers excise the finale’s top-secret cliffhangery epilogue that’s supposed to set up Season 5? —Ryan
Ausiello: Good question. Let’s ask Fedak. “From a technical perspective, we probably won’t know the fate of the show until after we lock the cut of the finale,” he says. “However, I really like this ending that we’ve built and I think it works no matter what situation we’re going into. I really love this episode. I don’t think I would change it.” [Source]

“Ask Ausiello” Spoilers {5/3/2011}

Question: Since you are almost as big a fan of Chuck as I am, I need to know: What is your degree of confidence that the season finale can also serve as a satisfying series finale if NBC does the unthinkable and unforgivable? —Jeff
Ausiello: To be honest, my confidence level was pretty low. But then I spoke to exec producer Chris Fedak and it shot through the freakin’ roof. Despite the finale being titled “Chuck vs. the Cliffhanger,” Fedak assured me that the episode features “some fantastic resolution to a number of the stories that we set up this season.” But as has become something of a Chuck tradition, the final scene features a “cliffhanger component that launches us very much into [a possible] Season 5,” Fedak adds. What would such a season look like? “There were a number of stories that we’ve always wanted to do – even from Season 1 – involving who Chuck is as a person and as a hero. So [Season 5] would be an extension of that.”

Question: In last week’s AA you mentioned that the Chuck season finale broke the bank, budget-wise. Care to elaborate? Do you know what was so expensive? —Jeremy
Ausiello: The mother of all action sequences, according to Fedak. “It’s set in the desert and includes a super motorcycle, lots of special effects and a truck getting blown off the road,” he says. “It has an element of Duel, which is Steven Spielberg’s first movie. There’s also an element of Road Warrior… and an ode to the television show Street Hawk, which I watched as a kid.” [Source]

“Watch with Kristin” Spoilers {4/25/2011}

TheOtherYvonne: Anything Chuck related would be great!
Hoping that Chuck will shed some light regarding the mysterious Agent X? Zachary Levi feels for you. “We will get answers on that,” he promises to us. “This is not the four-toed statue on the coastline of Lost! We’re going to answer some questions, people. We’re not just going to keep asking questions.”

Brett in San Diego, Calif.: Gimme Chuck news! Maybe wedding related?
“The wedding is in the works between Chuck and Sarah (Yvonne Strahovski), but as one might expect from a season of Chuck, the things we are all working toward are impeded and interrupted for various reasons,” Zach tells us. The important word in that sound bite being “various.” But even more importantly, the bro-love between Chuck and Morgan (Joshua Gomez) is still intact. “The bromance is strong,” he assures happily. Question: You’ve been slacking on Chuck scoop lately. Give us something good and maybe I’ll forgive you. —Jeremiah
Ausiello: Is this Jeremiah from ancient times? Or the post-apocalyptic one played by Luke Perry in the short-lived Showtime series? Eh, you’re getting scoop regardless. Despite the fact that Chuck‘s season/possible series finale is titled “Chuck vs. The Cliffhanger,” the episode has its fair share of closure. “It’s a good ending, but it also serves as a good beginning if we do get a fifth [season],” reveals leading lady Yvonne Strahovski. “I feel like every [Chuck finale] has had to be that because we never know, so the writers always plan for both.” Adds Zachary Levi: “It ends in the same Chuck way that we’ve ended any season or half-season that later became a full season. It’s open. You’re going to see the whole team collaborating and working together to make things right and have some closure about certain things that are really big, but also leave the potential for it to be continued later.” [Source]

maryploppins613: Chuck Chuck Bo Buck…
…banana-fana fo…wait a minute. You almost got us with that one! No F-bombs here. Except for maybe one: freedom. As in, Chuck and Sarah’s last night of freedom with bachelor and bachelorette parties! “There’s some good action in the bachelorette party,” Yvonne Strahovski tells us. As for the bachelor party, the boys will be taking Las Vecas by storm! No typo there. Las Vecas is a campground, so prepare for some rustic male bonding.

Jessi_RS: Will Chuck & Sarah get married?

We certainly hope so! The good news is that Yvonne told us she had a say in her wedding dress, so at least we know there’s a dress happening. “Do I or do I not end up wearing the wedding dress? That is the question,” she says coyly. “I did have a say in [my wedding dress], but we don’t know if the wedding will happen or not.” Zachary Levi adds: “Something may stop the wedding from happening; we don’t know. Lives are in danger, hijinks aplenty.” Damn those hijinks!

Sepanie523: How do you feel about Chuck’s renewal chances? And what’s all this about Chuck and Sarah maybe not making it to the wedding?

Like every season, Chuck’s fate remains up in the air while they shot the finale. “Every year we’re always wondering if we’re coming back or not and this season is no different,” Zach says to us. “The writers have been very good always about writing a final episode that has closure but also has kind of an open feel to it. And we do that again this year.” If, horrors upon horrors, this is Chuck’s last season, fans will get things wrapped up. Personally, we feel pretty good about Chuck’s renewal chances, so it’s good to know that the finale opens up more spy-nerdiness for next season.

Matt’s Inside Line {4/18/2011}

You Can’t Con a Con | At least that’s what Sarah is out to prove this Monday on Chuck, when after getting swindled she enlists her father (guest star Gary Cole) to get even. “Her dad is a con man, so she’s absolutely mortified,” Yvonne Strahovski reports. Plotting with her pop and Chuck, Sarah at one point slips into a new persona, affording Strahovski a chance to tackle a Chuck first. “I get to do a whole new accent,” shares the actress, who to date has only (and just one time) used her native Aussie voice. “That’s something that I’ve never done!” Speaking of firsts, many of the NBC spy comedy’s fans are wondering if Casey might restart his romance with Alex’s mother, Kathleen. Adam Baldwin, though, thinks such a storyline isn’t suited for such an early primetime hour. “A Casey love interest at eight o’clock? Nah,” the actor scoffs. “He needs a 10 o’clock.”

EW’s Spoiler Room Chuck Spoiler {4/5/2011}

Posted by Hayley in Apr 05,2011 with No Comments

The spy world is a dangerous place, and after Awesome and Ellie welcomed baby Clara this season, I got a flood of emails asking if this was the end of the new parents’ spy adventures. Well, for the most part it was — at least in regards to this season, when they resided primarily in Babyville. But things are about to change…

“It was really tricky because the first time Awesome got into the spy world, it was a little self-centered to be honest. You know, married life does have its lulls. He wanted to spice things up a little bit and get that adrenaline rush,” Ryan McPartlin says. “If he did that now with a baby, it would be really selfish. So [the writers] had to be really careful bringing us into the spy world and making it out of necessity rather than desire.” Fans can assume that “necessity” has something to do with Pa Bartowski’s laptop of secrets, which Ellie has found herself engrossed with since she got her hands on it. But McPartlin eased any fears a bit, saying that the audience will be “relieved and happy to see what comes of it.” But not before Awesome and Ellie get to have a little fun.

“I think the audience still likes to relate to people who are thrown in there, who have no business being there. Otherwise, you jut have Alias. Where does it go? Whereas when we get in there, everything is haphazard,” he says, laughing. [SOURCE]
